San Marcos Docs Treat Patients After Recent Earthquake

25 June 2017

A father fell and broke his elbow while running for his children in the early morning hours on June 14th as a 6.9 magnitude earthquake shook San Marcos.  An army Colonel fell on stairs and broke his forearm. These and other patients were treated at the public hospital by the orthopedic residents using skills learned at the recent AO Trauma Basic Fracture Course in Guatemala City. OSSA sponsored 13  doctors to attend this course. The attendees then returned to share their knowledge with their fellow residents.  In June the department hosted their own national AO Trauma symposium with lectures & shared case presentations. OSSA is proud to help sponsor the growth of trauma education at the national public hospital!
